Nothing changes if nothing changes
Sundays of Meaning #29 - January 12th, 2024

Remember:
No amount of inspiration after starting a new year, watching countless motivational YouTube videos, or reading all the self-help books will ever get you from point A to point B.
Knowledge is not power. If you think that knowledge is power, you’ve been lied to. Knowledge is not power. It is only potential power, for if you do nothing with that knowledge, you might as well not know a thing.
Stop eternally preparing, trying to know all there is to it so that you can start- you’ll never know all there is to something.
Stop accruing all these random facts- nothing but disjointed theory. The way to slowly bake knowledge into your system is by applying it to a meaningful project. What’s the point of having so many dots to connect if you’re not willing to do the work of connecting them?
Stop waiting for inspiration to strike- the momentum you’re looking for isn’t in some divine strike of heavenly inspiration, but in the work you’re avoiding and in the fun you’re forgetting to have.
Yes, it’s a new year, and tomorrow a new week, but the sun that shines upon us is the same sun. The moon at night is the same moon. The universe, indifferent as always, and life, as absurd as ever. On top of that, the same old us in many ways: the same bad habits, demons, fears, rationalizations, etcetera. All this to say that no amount of New Year’s hype, preparation, studying, planning, or dreaming, will ever make things change. The only way to really change is by taking a cold, hard look at your dragons and decisively facing them, instead of pretending they’re not there.
They say that insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. Well then, will you continue being insane by doing what you’ve always done? Will you continue to passively wait for things to change, or will you play an active role? Will you take responsibility and have the guts to face your dragons or will you continue hiding in your cacoon, frog-boiling yourself?
Remember, nothing changes if nothing changes.
